For some, politics is just a game to play,
A competition to win for vanity’s sake,
And yet, they are the corruption within,
For they feel nothing but their own gain.
For me, I think of the souls who've needlessly died,
Of the friends who were unable to continue living,
Of the destitute who wanders the street ignored,
Of the caregivers struggling each day to provide,
Of the young who are abandoned with no future,
Of the old left to watch the newsman’s grim ends,
And our environments hollowed of all spiritual life.
My tears are not for the greedy powerful,
My joy I do not give to the undeserving,
My faith I do not offer to the visionless.
